| Curtin Land & Cattle is a 200+ registered Angus cow herd and corn/soybean farm located in northeast Christian County. We have an over 75 year history in the Angus business than traces back to 1936 when Lawrence Curtin purchased some Angus heifers for his son’s 4-H projects. As new generations have taken ownership in the operation, there has been a few name changes over the years, beginning with L.F Curtin and Sons, to John Curtin’s Curtin Angus Farm, John, Fred and Jim’s Blue Ston Farms, to its present name reflecting Fred and T.J. ‘s ownership: Curtin Land & Cattle LLC.
Over the years the family has been very active in the Angus breed with John serving as past president of Illinois Angus Association and American Angus Board of director. Fred served as Illinois Angus president in 1997 and most recently T.J. serving as President in 2011.
Our breeding program centers around our annual production sale, the second Friday in March. We strive to produce calving ease bulls for commercial cattlemen without sacrificing growth and eye appeal. Our females excel for function and balance while maintaining industry relevant pedigrees and EPD’S. We performance test our cattle within the Angus Herd Improvement records as well as utilize ultrasound technology and more recently have begun to DNA profile the cattle using the HD 50 K platform. We have feel as we have assembled an excellent herd bull lineup as well as utilizing the best AI sires we can find coupled with our cowherd to produce progeny that makes genetic progress for our customers.
We thank you for visiting our website and would like to extend an invitation to the farm, visitors are always welcome.
